Fazakerley Hospital, in Liverpool, had ventilators that kept defaulting into alarm mode and failing – this posed a serious and traumatic issue during the course of an operation.
The ventilator’s manufacturer blamed the hospital for poor electrical supply and electromagnetic interference, but measures taken to prevent these factors proved ineffective.
3P1 diagnosed the source of the problem (a wrongly designed pressure transducer) and rectified all ventilators in less than 60 days. The supplier’s claim of EMC interference was finally dismissed after a year of persistence, much to the hospital’s relief.
